Last week we met up with some friends to celebrate a birthday at Alu Wine Bar & Lounge in Portland. We were the first to arrive, so we sat at the bar and had a drink. I took advantage of the chic atmosphere and snapped some photos. It was unlike any place I had ever been to. Check it out next time you’re in Portland!
This week’s find is Jodie Hurt. Jodie creates beautiful mixed media art with vintage textbooks, stencils, stamps and acrylics. She uses great colors and I love how she includes the black & white illustrations in her work. You can see more work by Jodie in her Etsy shop. And don’t forget to check out her blog.
Version 2
We get the most beautiful sunlight in our home. And so far this year we’ve had many beautiful days. I like to take advantage of those days and take some photos. Here are a couple photos that I took yesterday as part of my photo a day for a year project. You can see more photos on Flickr.
I was going through my favorite Etsy shops today when I came across Vessels & Wares. I just love this pottery. The first thing that caught my attention where the colors. Aqua and green are two of my favorites. And aqua and green look great on those cute small bowls and the plates with the fantastic details. This is a shop to check out. And don’t forget to visit the Vessels & Wares blog.
This month’s giveaway is going to take place over at the Handmade Showcase blog. One lucky winner will receive my In the Valley photograph. Please check out the beautiful feature Lynde has created for me and don’t forget to enter.

I’m starting to accumulate a small collection of cameras. I have ten, yes 10, cameras. I’m not including the one on my phone, which I just don’t use. I have standards. Some are old; many have sentimental value and a few I don’t even use. The Pentax K 1000 was my first camera and first love. It is my father’s camera and I used it for my first photography classes. It broke and so I had to get another camera. I purchased a Canon Rebel. Not quite the same as the K 1000 so I purchased a K 1000 on Ebay. Still not quite the same, but a very good camera. My father’s K 1000 was eventually fixed. Next up, my parent’s Polaroid Land Camera. I’m not sure if it was given to me or if I just kind of “borrowed” it. I’ve used it a few times, but it mostly hangs out on my shelf.
Sorry for the delay. I tried to post this earlier but we were having some trouble with our internet connection. So the winner of the December Giveaway is Vivien from Puff Pastry Shop! Be sure to check out Vivien’s cute jewelry in her Etsy shop.
