From the Studio

>> Monday, April 27, 2009

It’s going to be a busy week in the studio. I have two events this week. The first is a solo show at the Chehalem Downtown Tasting Room in Newberg. If you’re in the Portland area, stop by for the opening reception. It’s on Friday, May 1st from 5pm-9pm. Snack on some complimentary appetizers and enjoy some Chehalem wines. If you can’t make if for the opening reception, the show will be up for the month of May.

On Saturday, May 2nd I will be at the Sherwood Saturday Market. It’s the first market of the season and there will be some great vendors selling plants, produce, art and other goodies. The market runs from 9am – 1pm. If you can’t make it on Saturday I will be at the market at least one Saturday a month. Just check the right column of my blog for my exhibition and show listings.

Fridays Find: WontonLove

>> Friday, April 24, 2009

Disclaimer: Okay, so I know I featured a jewelry artist last week, but I was so excited when I found these necklaces I just had to post them today.

I’ve been on the lookout for a very simple, everyday wear kind of necklace. And I was very excited to find MiniCyn on the front page of Etsy. After checking out MiniCyn I noticed a link to their other shop WontonLove. I just love the Spotty Glitter and All that Glitter necklaces. I am a circle girl and a silver lover, but the gold just really appeals to me. These necklaces are on my must have list.

Flickr Inspiration

>> Wednesday, April 22, 2009

I am so inspired by the Flickr group @neutral, simple, form, pale, beauty@ that I decided to create a mosaic with some of my favorite photos from the group. This is my first time using the mosaic maker on Big Huge Labs. It was so much fun to curate my own little mosaic that I may post my Flickr inspirations weekly. Check back next week to see what inspires me. What inspires you?

Fridays Find: Candy's Art Designs

>> Friday, April 17, 2009

I’m really drawn to Candy’s bright colors and chunky beaded necklaces. I love to wear necklaces that stand out and make a statement. And Candy’s necklaces do just that. Candy also creates bright and beautiful earrings, rings and hair accessories. Be sure to check out Candy’s Etsy shop for more great finds.

Finding Ruche

>> Wednesday, April 15, 2009

I just recently found Ruche while visiting the Paper n Stitch blog. Let me just say, I have really been missing out. Not only do they have beautiful, dreamy clothing they also carry some super cute shoes. I’ve always been a thrifty girl, but in this economy I’ve been extra frugal, and Ruche is easy on the pocketbook. At Ruche you can find a great pair of shoes for under $50. Here are some of my favorites.

*The Ruche website seems to be down right now. I'll get the links posted when its up and running again.

Today's find is Paloma's Nest. There are so many beauties to choose from, but I just love the stamped, ceramic eggs. They are perfect for spring. And the peace doves are so very sweet. Click here to check out more goodies from Paloma's Nest.

1. Retro Square Clock

>> Monday, April 6, 2009

On Friday we drove down to Eugene to drop off three of my photographs that have been accepted into the University of Oregon’s 2009 Pacific Northwest Art Annual. Click here to learn more about the Art Annual.

Eugene is about 2 hours away from our home so we decided to make it an overnight trip and do some exploring. On Friday, after dropping off my photographs, we drove out to Florence. Florence is a quaint, little town on the Oregon coast. We walked around town and I managed to get a few photographs before the rain started up again. It had been raining most of the day with an occasional glimpse of the sun.

On the way back to Eugene we stopped at an old, rundown gas station and I was able to take photos there until it started raining again. On Saturday, we headed south to Cottage Grove and drove the covered bridge tour. I’ll have more photos from the gas station and the covered bridge tour soon.

About Me

I view the world as if I’m looking through the lens of a camera. I see photographs everywhere. I’m inspired by the simple and ordinary in our everyday lives. I see beauty in a pear and in the details of an old-fashioned door knob. Photography is my passion and I want to help people see the simple splendor that surrounds us.
